Beemish and Banks

Time does fly. We’re now down to just a little bit over 6 mos to the move. And there are only 4.5 months left in this year—by the time 2007 rolls around, we’ll be really busy.

<>There are few changes to the plans. I think we will go over on the flat search a little earlier, like late Jan. I will try to get some advice about how far in advance to do this. Our lease should start on March 1. <>

This is a change that makes things easier—I learned that it is possible to open a regular UK bank account from here in the US. We would have to go in to the HSBC branch in DC in person to do it, but it’s certainly worth it. We would get a debit card and a chequebook for the account. This will make things much, much easier on the flat-hunt trip because we would be able to simply write a cheque for the first months’ rent and set up the standing order for the rent.<>

And there’s one change that makes things slightly (but not much) more complicated. We are going to try to take Beemish with us when we move. I figure we can address the issues I mentioned in my first post. We could put her in a kennel/cattery while we are in NY for those few days. And I could ask my brother to buy a litter box and some litter for us so that we’ll have it upon our arrival. Having two pets rather than one won’t make the process of having the PETS forms filled out and stamped by an approved USDA vet won’t make the process any more complicated than it already is. And it would save us the extra airfare for having to come back for her.
